Senior ballroom dancing circle “Volta” was established in the autumn of 2006 and has been actively participating in Kirtimai culture center activities and in regional and national level events ever since.

2018 March 17 Mika Šimkūnaitė and Mindaugas Baškys, the leaders of “Volta”, won the first place in the Lithuanian Latin American Dance Championship organized by the Lithuanian Sport Dance Federation in Šiauliai Arena and became Lithuanian champions in their age group.

In 2009 “Volta” has participated in Vilnius senior dance club “Atgaiva” 20 year anniversary celebration dance for the first time, and since has been actively cooperating with senior ballroom dancing ensembles from Elektrėnai, Anykščiai, Alytus, Kaunas, Kupiškis, Utena and others, joining their celebrations and proudly presenting themselves with new dance compositions.

Additionally, “Volta” has excellent relations with other ensembles of the country. They organize cooperative get-togethers with „Vilniaus Pynimėlis “, Vilnius tango club. Dancers of can often be seen participating in various concerts, getting involved in cinema and television shows.

Currently the dance group consists of about 20 members, aged from 25 to 99. During rehearsals members learn standard and Latin dances: Viennese Waltz, Slow Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive and others.

Everyone willing to dance is welcome, regardless of age or skill. A friendly atmosphere among dancers helps to relax, improve one’s moves, rhythm and artistry.
